Edmodo is an educational technology company that offers teachers and student the opportunity to communicate, collaborate, and coach each other. It allows teachers to share content with the class, online quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, families, and colleagues. Edmodo can be used both in school and at home. Edmodo is a great way for students and teachers to stay connected with each other through social media. Over the past few weeks, I have been posting on Edmodo about the different technology used in my practicum classroom. Edmodo allows others to like and comment on your posts, which is very beneficial because it gives other people the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas with you. I love reading through my classmates weekly posts on Edmodo because it allows me to learn about the different types of technology that are used in their practicum classrooms. On Edmodo, I have discussed that my practicum classroom often uses chromebooks during class. My teacher has set up a Google Classroom for the third graders and they often use their chromebooks to access that. My host teacher posts classroom updates, assignments, reminders for upcoming events and activities, quizzes, etc on the class Google Classroom page. Also, the children are required to read a book at home each night for homework. When they arrive at school in the morning, the input the title, author, genre, and a description of the book they read onto their daily reading log, which can also be found on Google Classroom. My host teacher often uses the EnoBoard and Elmo during class as well. They are both used frequently throughout the school day. She uses the EnoBoard for the morning meeting to go over the schedule for the day and sometimes to show videos. She also often uses it as a dry erase board when she needs to remind the students of something or write something down quickly. My host teachers uses both the EnoBoard and the Elmo to complete specific assignments, such as during math time. She uses the Elmo to project the math workbook pages on the board for the whole class to view. She also uses the EnoBoard to go over the answers from the homework with the students and to show them examples of how to complete specific math problems. All of the technology I have viewed in my practicum classroom so far appeared to be very beneficial to the students and the classroom as a whole! In the future, I plan to use many of these technological tools in my classroom and I also plan to create an Edmodo account to be able to communicate with my future students!
Below is an example of one of my many Edmodo posts that discusses some of the technology I have mentioned that is used in my practicum classroom!
