Using VoiceThread, I have created a mock product that could be used at Digital Storytelling Night. After welcoming students and families to the event and giving them an introduction about what will go on throughout the night, I would play my digital story to provide guests with an example of what they will be creating at the event. At Digital Storytelling Night, students and families will have the opportunity to create their own digital story on VoiceThread, using the 3-5 artifacts they were asked to bring to the event. The school will provide guests with iPads and chrome books to complete this activity on during the event. VoiceThread's interactive features allow you to upload pictures from into a slide and then add text, an audio recording, or a video recording to describe what is in the picture. VoiceThread has many different multimedia features that are useful for all different types of learners. VoiceThread allows you to see and hear about what you are learning about. It also has a drawing tool that allows users to draw on top of the pictures or videos they are using in their VoiceThread. VoiceThread also has a feature where users can comment on each other's videos as they watch them, which allows for interactive and collaborative conversation! VoiceThread is very easily accessible, practical, and available to users. The only con of VoiceThread is that users need to be connected to the internet to create a product.
In the story I created, I described three artifacts that are meaningful to me. This mock product on important artifacts was designed to be used as a model for Digital Storytelling Night, as well as an example for an activity teachers can do with their students. This activity is important for children because it gives them the chance to express themselves and learn more about each other, while also incorporating technology into the activity.
