Hello! My name is Jessica Drake. I am currently a student at SUNY Cortland and my major is Early Childhood/Childhood Education, with a concentration in social sciences. I am from Hauppauge, New York, located on Long Island. I have a passion for helping young children learn and grow. As a student at Cortland, I have had the opportunity to take part in many different field placements, where I was able to work with children of a variety of ages. I have also babysat for many years , worked as a camp counselor at numerous different camps, and worked as a hostess for children's birthday parties. At home, I work at a special education school, where I am able to gain experience working with children of many different abilities.
As a child, I always found myself playing school with my siblings, cousins, and friends and I was always the one to volunteer to be the teacher during the game. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember and I hope to make an impact on many of my students' lives one day. I am looking forward to working with my future students to reach their educational goals and I hope to teach them all many new things in exciting and engaging ways. I have learned a lot from my experiences thus far working with children, and I am sure I will implement many of the things I have learned in my future classroom. I am very excited to finish my degree, then complete grad school, and see what my future holds as a teacher! |
