I used Google Slides to create a short presentation explaining how technology is used in my practicum classroom. My host teacher incorporates certain technological tools into her classroom, however, she does not use many different tools. One tool that is used in my third grade practicum class is chrome books. At my placement, the students use chrome books for many different activities, such as Google Classroom. My host teacher has created a Google Classroom for the class where she posts updates and assignments online for the class to see. She is working to try to get the students used to regularly checking online for announcements. This tool is extremely beneficial to students, as well as their families, because they are able to keep up to date with classroom events and activities. It also gives them the opportunity to be able to communicate with the classroom teacher. The third graders also use Google Classroom to update their daily reading logs. Each night the students are assigned reading homework, where they are required to read for a specific amount of time each night. Then the next morning when they arrive at school, they are instructed to record what book they read on their reading log on Google Classroom. The students input the title of the book, the genre, what they liked about the book they read, etc. I think this is important because it allows my host teacher to keep track of what books the students are reading, what types of books the students enjoy, and what reading level each student is at. My host teacher also uses the Eno Board and Elmo to go over homework answers from a workbook and demonstrate how to solve math equations step by step. She also uses the Eno Board to go over the morning announcements and discuss the schedule for the day. Technology is continuously being used in the classroom and is extremely useful to students!
